Sensor Graphing

The ability to look at Sensor Data is one of the most usefull functions when looking at an OBD2 system. Values that can be looked at include

Coolant Temperature                         Oxygen Sensor Readings
Fuel Trim                                          RPM
Mass Air Flow  (MAF)                         Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP)
Vehicle Speed (VSS)                          Ignition Timing Advance
Intake Air Temperature (IAT)              Calculated Load
Throttle Position (TPS)                        And Others

These data items are refered to as PIDS. Newer vehicles usually have a more expanded set of PIDS to view. Escan also provides some calculated PIDS that are not included in the Generic OBD2 specification. These PIDS are derived from other PIDS and the program itself. Engine Run Time and Battery Voltage are two examples of calculated pids. Escan can graph PIDS in many different ways. One way is the main graph page which can graph 8 PIDS in their own seperate graphs stacked together.

Another way is up to 4 Pids in 2 seperate Dual Graphs.

A third way would be in the Measurement Graph.

You can download the Escan Program here.      Escan Download

You can download a Data Capture here.           2003 Pontiac Grand Am Data

You can then Open the Escan Program in Demo Mode and Load the Data capture (F10)  to display the data and try out the graphing.
