2001 Pontiac Grand Prix DTC P0420
This Pontiac had only one symptom, a check engine light was on. Our first step was
to hook up Escan to check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
The pic below shows that code as being a P0420. A Catalytic Converter Efficiency
problem.

Our next step was to take a quick look at
Mode 6
data. In the pic below you can
see that the Cataytic Converter was failing it's efficiency test.

We decided to run a quick check on the fuel system to make sure it was up to par.
The results from this
Fuel Trim Chart
test look good.

Our last step was to run a
Catalyst Efficiency Test
on the vehicle. As can be seen
in the pic below this vehicle does fail. The fix would be a new Catalytic Converter. |
